SHHC is a Not-for-Profit multi-specialty health center that opened its doors in 1956. Our name honors the founder of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (a predecessor union of Workers United), and served as labor advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He advocated labor union activity to assure provision for the social and health needs of working families.

Our health care philosophy emphasizes helping individuals maintain and improve health through the use of recognized preventive and comprehensive clinical services. We believe high quality health care requires up to date medical information and respectful coordinated service.

SHHC continues its mission to make available comprehensive and affordable outpatient health services to Chicago union groups, individuals,  families, retirees and other negotiated groups.

We welcome Private, Medicare and Medicaid patients.
